Beaver Lake Camp invites First Nations high school-age students and young people to join us for three different Youth Retreats throughout the school year. Retreats are hosted in September, February, and April. Things start off on a Friday evening after school, with a light supper and an evening of games and activities. Youth Retreat is a time when students can interact with peers and adults in a way that creates a fun, loving, secure, experience that will impact their life for eternity. It is a prospect for encouragement and truth through relationships. Throughout the weekend we enjoy scheduled activities, interactive games, and sessions in the chapel. These sessions are usually led by a First Nations speaker or couple. Some of the weekend activities may include volleyball, jug-a-lug, canoeing, tractor rides, mini golf, and in the winter, tubing and hockey. (Oh, and don’t forget jug-a-lug on the ice) The weekend wraps up after lunch on Sunday.

There are four weeks during July when Beaver Lake is bustling with the activity of one of our five-day camps! The first camp is for teens ages 13-16 and the following three camps are for children ages 9-12. Each day of camp is filled with fun and exciting activities like swimming, mini golf, archery, group games, wagon rides and much more.

Our mission is to provide kids with a safe environment that builds self worth and confidence, and encourages positive relational skills with family and peers. In all of our activities through the week we want to teach them that they are important to their family, friends, community, we the staff, and most of all to God; and that their relationship with Him is the most important one for them to develop in life. We want to help them see that they can succeed in life and be a positive contributing member of their home, community and world. We want to respond to the knowledge that, “Today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders”.

Campers arrive on a Monday morning and stay until Friday noon. Everyone is required to visit the registration table, as well as check in with the camp nurse upon arrival. Campers are divided into cabin groups of up to eight and introduced to their cabin counselors. Camp’s kitchen provides three balanced meals every day with snacks in the tuckshop during the afternoon and evening. Other highlights of the week include Family and Drama Night, camp-outs in the tepees and Track and Field.

Beaver Lake Camp is a non-profit, charitable organization and a member of Christian Camping International. We are committed to providing quality Christian camping programs for First Nations people. Our trained and caring staff are with the kids 24 hours a day and go with them thru each activity of the day. It is our goal to help teens and kids learn valuable lessons by spending time in God’s great outdoors and to make this experience one that will create fond memories that will go with them for a lifetime.
